Our daughter’s ACT score jumped from 28 to 35 in less than three months! So grateful and relieved we switched to Skydot Tutoring before it was too late.

SCHEDULE

We offer a very flexible schedule including after school and weekends. Meetings are in-person and/or online via Zoom/FaceTime.  Frequency of meetings depends on your level of knowledge and time remaining to prepare to take a test.

SAT/ACT Test Prep

We offer a highly customizable program based on various levels in Reading, Grammar and Math.  Our program starts with diagnostic tests for both the SAT and the ACT.  However, the decision on which test to take is not determined by these initial diagnostics tests but through multiple sample tests and review sessions that follow.  The SAT and ACT tests have significant overlap so practicing and reviewing both types of tests will help no matter which test you end up taking.

In addition to time spent to close any conceptual gap in Math (Algebra and Geometry), you will learn different strategies for Reading comprehension, Grammar and Math.  Taking multiple SAT and ACT sample tests and closely reviewing results will help you learn specific and general strategies and methods that will be key to your success.  As with learning how to play piano very well, working on assigned homework and practice tests and problems outside tutoring hours is the only way for you to achieve better results.

Unlike national test prep programs such as Princeton Review and Kaplan which make up their own versions of the SAT and ACT tests we only use official and original tests from the College Board (SAT) and ACT.org. We've had plenty of feedback from parents who initially paid for these and similar programs only to eventually switch to us and ultimately thrilled by the difference in the quality and results.

The best time to start your SAT/ACT prep is Spring of your sophomore year assuming you have either completed or nearly completed Algebra I, Algebra II and Geometry courses. This will first prepare you for the PSAT/NMSQ - the PSAT exam in October of your junior year for a shot at the National Merit Semifinalist award. The other advantage is also to be able to take the SAT/ACT early in your junior year so you can focus on the rest of your classes and grades which are essential for college admission. For those of you who may have a gap in these subjects there's still plenty of time to prepare starting your junior year with national tests offered all the way up to the Fall of your senior year.

Algebra I, Algebra II and Geometry

SAT/ACT tests do not require calculus knowledge but will test your full understanding of concepts in Algebra I, Algebra II and Geometry. For those of you who have not yet completed these courses or have a  gap in knowledge, we offer in-depth and personalized tutoring from 7th grade through 12th grade.  We've worked with students who successfully improved their level in SAT and ACT math from below 50th percentile to well above 90th percentile.

Pre-Calculus, AP Calculus A/B and B/C

We can help you increase your AP Calculus grades significantly as well as achieve very excellent AP exam scores.  The College Board administers both the SAT and the AP exams, testing  conceptual understanding through clever and difficult problems. Unfortunately given the size of high school classes vs the varying level of abilities, it's sometimes hard to keep up with and learn all the material.  We offer one-on-one tutoring that will help you establish a very solid understanding of the calculus concepts and theorems which in turn will help you tackle those difficult problems in your AP Calculus exams.

AP Statistics

AP Statistics is an excellent course we recommend all our high school students to take whether you are interested in science or social science (economics, business political science etc.). In fact it's a course you should ideally take as a sophomore (if qualified) or as a junior.  One of the advantages of taking the course earlier is that it will help you with your SAT/ACT exams since there are number of questions that relate to statistics.  In our tutoring program we will teach you both the math behind statistics and the exact language required to answer AP exam questions.

AP Physics 1/2 and C

AP Physics courses are split into those which require only Algebra and those which require Calculus. We offer tutoring services for both type of courses depending on your background and interest. Even a single course in AP Physics taken junior year or earlier will further help you with your SAT/ACT exams as there are a number of problems that include physics, unit and conversion problems.
